If you're looking for a creamy, refreshing dessert that's packed with protein and made with wholesome ingredients, this Mango Frozen Yogurt is about to become your new favorite.

    Mango Frozen Yogurt

Made with hung yogurt, ripe mango, protein powder, and maple syrup, this healthy frozen yogurt comes together effortlessly in the Ninja Creami using the Light Ice Cream setting.

It's thick, smooth, naturally sweetened, and tastes like a cross between mango lassi and premium frozen yogurt—but with significantly more protein. Whether you're craving a post-workout treat, a healthier dessert, or a cooling summer snack, this recipe checks every box.

Why You'll Love This Mango Frozen Yogurt

    • High in protein with simple ingredients
    • Naturally sweetened with maple syrup
    • Creamy, scoopable texture thanks to the Ninja Creami
    • No artificial flavors or preservatives
    • Perfect for meal prep
    • Family-friendly and customizable
    • Gluten-free and easy to make

Unlike many store-bought frozen yogurts that contain stabilizers and added sugars, this homemade version lets you control every ingredient while delivering an incredibly rich and creamy texture.

Ingredients you need for Mango Frozen Yogurt

Hung Yogurt - You can use greek yogurt too but I would still recoment to hung it over night so, all the excess moisture is strained.

Mango - Use ripe sweet mangoes. If you use canned mango, it might make the consistencu too liquidy.

Maple Syrup - Adding sweetner is optional. I added a very small amount to cut down the acidity of the yogurt and mango. You can simultaeously use your choice of sweetner too.

Protein Powder - You can use your choice of protein powder. This is optional and you can discard adding if you don't use protein powder.

Equipment - I used Ninja Creami to make the frozen yogurt. This is not a sponsored post. You can simulatneously also churn the yogurt and mango mixture in a regular ice cream churner.

How to Make Mango Frozen Yogurt in the Ninja Creami

    How to make

1- Place the yourt in a muslin jar or use a container that is used to hung yogurt and let it strain the excess water. I like to do this the precious night and leave it in the fridge.

2- Take the hung yogurt to a the Ninja Creami container and add mango pulp to that.

3- Next add protein powder and maple syrup. Use a hand blender to blend the mixture to a smooth consistency. Cover the container and leave it in the refrigerator for over night.

4- Next day, place the container in the blender and select 'Lite Ice Cream' and let it blend for 4 minutes.

Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy immediately.

Tips for the Creamiest Frozen Yogurt

Removing excess whey creates a thicker base, resulting in an incredibly creamy frozen yogurt without needing heavy cream.

Naturally ripe mangoes provide the best flavor and reduce the need for extra sweetener.

Protein powder can sometimes create a slightly crumbly texture after the first cycle. A quick Re-Spin transforms it into silky, scoopable perfection.

The Ninja Creami works best when the mixture has been frozen for a full 24 hours.

Vanilla protein powder pairs beautifully with mango and yogurt, adding subtle sweetness and extra creaminess.

    You can use:

    • Whey protein
    • Whey isolate
    • Casein protein
    • Plant-based vanilla protein

If your protein powder is already sweetened, reduce the maple syrup to taste.

    Flavor Variations to try

    • Add a few tablespoons of coconut milk for a tropical twist.
    • Mix in a pinch of ground cardamom for flavors inspired by traditional mango lassi.
    • Add fresh lime zest before freezing for a bright citrus finish.Fold in diced strawberries or raspberries after spinning using the Mix-In function.
    • Mix crushed graham crackers into the finished frozen yogurt for a dessert-inspired treat.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Greek yogurt instead of hung yogurt?

Yes. Full-fat or low-fat Greek yogurt works well since it's naturally thick and creamy.

    Can I use frozen mango?

Absolutely. Thaw it slightly before blending for the smoothest consistency.

    Is this frozen yogurt healthy?

This recipe is made with protein-rich yogurt, real fruit, natural maple syrup, and protein powder, making it a balanced dessert compared to traditional ice cream.

Can I make it without protein powder?

Yes. Simply omit the protein powder. The frozen yogurt will still be creamy, though it will contain less protein.

Why is my Ninja Creami frozen yogurt crumbly?

This is completely normal, especially with higher-protein recipes. Running one or two Re-Spin cycles creates the perfect creamy consistency.

    Recipe Notes

    • Adjust maple syrup depending on the sweetness of your mangoes.
    • For extra protein, use a high-quality vanilla whey isolate.
    • Chill ingredients before blending for the best consistency.
    • This recipe can easily be doubled and frozen in multiple Ninja Creami pint containers.

This High Protein Mango Frozen Yogurt is everything you want in a healthy dessert—creamy, refreshing, naturally sweet, and incredibly satisfying. Using just four simple ingredients and the Ninja Creami, you can create a frozen treat that rivals your favorite frozen yogurt shop while providing a boost of protein.

Whether you're making it for a healthy dessert, a post-workout snack, or a refreshing summer treat, this easy recipe is one you'll come back to again and again.
