Creamy Avocado with thick yogurt makes a very refreshing, vibrant green Avocado Yogurt dip that can be used in several dishes. The texture is very smooth, and it tastes so creamy, but there is no cream added. It's a healthy dip that you can use even as a dressing on salad.
Is Avocado Yogurt Dip similar to Avocado Crema?
Crema is the Spanish word for cream. Avocado Crema is a take on Mexican Crema which is similar to Sour cream but a tad bit lighter and the consistency is thin. So it makes it easy to drizzle.
This Avocado Yogurt Dip is similar, and you can say this is my take on Avocado Crema. Instead of using sour cream or Mexican Crema, I used thick yogurt.
The Avocado Yogurt Dip is zingy, very refreshing and pairs so well with grilled food, drizzled on top of salad bowl, on wraps and sandwiches.
Ingredients used in Avocado Yogurt Dip
There are just 4 ingredients used in this Creamy Avocado Dip.
Avocado - Use a perfectly ripe avocado. When you shop Avocado, look for a darker shade of green, almost black color skin. But when you hold it, it shouldn't feel mushy or too soft. Neither should it feel too hard when you try to squeeze the avocado.
Perfectly ripe avocado will give that gorgeous color to the dip
Yogurt - Use plain thick Greek yogurt for the best texture. You can use sour cream too, which will obviously make it much tastier and rich in taste.
Cilantro - If you are not a fan of cilantro, you can use some other variety of fresh herbs, but that will definitely change the taste too.
Salt - Don't skip the seasoning of the dip.
Are there any Spices
Occasionally I do add some roasted cumin seeds, crushed coarsely, but that is only when I serve it with some Indian grilled food or kebabs. I love to some time make this dip when I make Indian spiced Chicken Taco.
Have you tried this Tawa Chicken Taco?
If you prefer a mild spicy version, add some smoked paprika or cayenne pepper. Or add a fresh green chili.
Can you make this Avocado Yogurt in advance?
Because of the yogurt in the dip, it stays fresh and vibrant green for several hours. Sometimes even the next day when kept in the refrigerator in an air tight container.
Having said this, I always prefer making it fresh because it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare it. We love it with charred shishito peppers
