Taste of Eastern India is released TODAY

September 18, 2018 by Kankana Saxena

This day will not be just another day for me. Sep 18th has marked itself special in my calendar. Taste of Eastern India is released TODAY. 8 years back, if someone had told me a day such as this would come in my life, I would have thought they are crazy! But here it is, my first cookbook on Bengali food, food that I grew up eating, food that I learnt cooking from my Mom and Aunts, food that always takes me back home. I hope you enjoy this book just as much as I enjoyed writing and photographing it.

Here is a quick trailer on what to expect from Taste of Eastern India!

Bengalis have an undying love for anything delicious. We are food enthusiast and our dishes are not spicy, rather soothing and sublime. People who are not truly aware of our food style often tend to think that all we eat is fish, possibly for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Occasionally, I even faced questions that if the book has any plant based meals. The fact is, if you dig deep in our every meal, you will realize it is balanced with carb, vegetable and protein. This Bengali cookbook – Taste of Eastern India, is a culmination of a year of hard work and I wish to bring more awareness to this vibrant food culture.

The book is now available worldwide at any place that sells cookbooks or you could purchase it from the links below:

Kankana! I was browing the broken links on my site and found one for sunshine and smiles. Now of course I knew you changed names and all since I still follow you on facebook, but it's been ages since I was here. I knew the book was coming up but hadn't ordered it yet. It's also available in the Dutch bookstore online, so I just ordered myself a copy. Now I have to wait for 10 days but I'm sure it is worth it. How are things with you?
