    Drive to Big Sur!

May 10, 2012 by Kankana Saxena

We started early morning, packed some food and hit the road with a coffee on the go! It was a bright, sunny and perfect day to spend on the beach. If I had to ever choose between hiking in the mountains, walking in the forest, shopping in the city or relaxing on the beach - I will definitely choose the beach. This clearly shows how lazy I am!

I have always loved playing in the water, running in the sand, collecting shells, lying down on the beach and enjoying the sunshine. Out here, the water is always so freezing cold that I don't get to enjoy it as much as I used to on Indian beaches.

Nevertheless, whenever we plan a drive to the beach, it's an exciting day for me.

On the way, we stopped for lunch in a very beautiful place. We had some ice cream before lunch (yeah I know! ) while I quickly played with my camera.

The color of ocean, the beautiful rocks and the sound of waves - this is a beautiful world! The below pictures are taken by Arvind. He is amazing with landscape photography.

So, have you ever been to Big Sur? What kind of places do you like to travel?

You definitely speak through your lens as well. They are so perfectly placed on this page.
The beaches here in Newfoundland, are cold and rocky which doesn't make them much of a beach, nevertheless beautiful. The second last picture reminds me of a place here known as the 'Mouse hole'.
I look forward to more of your pictures.

      Beautiful pictures Kankana!
We have not been to the west coast.
Our Spring trips are nearer; we usually go for an annual spring picnic to the strawberry farms.

Hi Kankana, Beautiful pictures!! The shades of the sea look so rich and inviting. I'm sending your post to my younger sis who lives in SF too. Since I can't be there, she can go there in case she hasn't already done it.

Absolutely beautiful photography of one of US most scenic places, the colours of the water a joyful artistry of nature. Have been myself a few times, mostly with friends who took a quick look and repaired into quaint shops and interesting restaurants 😉 !

Kankana! You were so close to where I live... I actually shot that chocolate shop when I first moved here 😉 I'm hoping to drive down to Big Sur in the next few weeks. Did you guys go to the Big Sur Bakery?

No we didn't had much time out there. Actually we got stuck in that place where we had lunch for about an hour and a half. There was some event happening on that day and the road was blocked!
If only I knew that you stay close by to that area .. we could have planned to meet up 🙂

Big Sur and infact the whole of highway 1 (those 17 miles) is breathtaking and one of my favorite places in the US. I have some fond memories of sitting exactly at that spot from where you took a shot of the beach and sipping coffee with the love of my life. Those were the days 🙂
      Gorgeous shots babe. Love it!
