Organizing and hosting a party can be overwhelming and tense but when your guests end up having a good time, you know it was all worth the effort. Last Saturday, I organized my first Bengali Lunch Pop-Up. If you follow my Instagram stories, you would know that I have wanted to do this for few weeks now. To be more specific, I have been waiting to do this ever since I photographed Vijitha @spicesandaroma Chai Pop-Up.
I read this quote long back – “There are friends, there is family and then, there are friends that become family”!
I am very lucky to have few such friends in my life and one of them is Vijitha. That girl is a super woman and it was amazing observing her on her Chai Pop-Up prepping, cooking, styling, serving and entertaining! So much passion and dedication! It got me motivated and excited. The immediate next day, we both started talking on my first pop-up idea. She helped me so much! Just like my Mom, I love hosting parties, enjoy cooking for my friends and the whole thing brings me so much joy.

Without wasting too much time, I raised the question on Instagram and got so many positive responses. As a first timer, I wanted to keep it small. Also, I didn’t have the budget for a big location. So, I decided to do it in my cozy home and opened the slot for just 6 diners. The tickets for the pop-up sold out pretty soon. Planning the menu was not difficult and neither was the cooking. However, the styling could have been done much better. My priority was taste and talking about Bengali food. In the process, I couldn’t manage to take a lot of pictures. Also, I really could have done a better table setting. Keeping that aside, everything else was great, just great!

The diners enjoyed the food. We had some great conversations and laughed a lot. All in all, it was a beautiful experience and I can’t wait to start planning the menu for the next pop-up.
I will soon share the future pop-up dates. But in the mean time, if you live in and around bay area and willing to enjoy the flavors of Bengal, do contact me and I will send you more details on the same.
