Spinach Omelette

Today was yet another day when I woke up hungry! No, I didn’t miss my meal last night. In fact, we had this amazing chicken tandoori from a Pakistani Restaurant. I and my tummy slept all happy ๐Ÿ˜‰ May be too much of blog hopping does something to your subconsciousness and you land up dreaming of food and eating .. huh!!

I was craving for Egg Bowl once again but then, I wanted to try something different and thought of making something on the similar lines. Made a Spinach Omelette ๐Ÿ™‚ Spinach is one of my favorite greens just like Popeye ๐Ÿ˜› .. “I’m Popeye the Sailor Man. I’m strong to the finish, Cause I eats me spinach. I’m Popeye the Sailor Man” .. do you guys remember that. I miss that show at times!

I am sharing my spinach omlette with Sunday at one food club, Anyone can cook , A.W.E.D British event by Reva and DK,

If you know me, you will know that I don’t like to cook on Friday nights. I love to cook, and I cook every single day including weekends, but Friday evening does some freaky things to me. I like to be lazy, order food, have a drink and not cook at all. May be it’s the feeling of ‘weekend almost there!’ ๐Ÿ˜‰ . Yesterday was different! I was getting bored while waiting for Arvind to come home. He had some office party to attend and so I thought of surprising him by baking some cookies. Guess what ? it turned out bad ๐Ÿ™ It was the first time I was making an attempt with cookies!!

Totally mad at myself, I decided to watch a movie. Switched on Netflix and picked ‘Ramen Girl’. If you guys haven’t watched it .. you should, especially if you love food and cooking. It’s not a super hit kinda movie, but it can motivate you. Well, it worked on me. I went to the kitchen and decided to make Creme Brulee ๐Ÿ˜€ This is how crazy I am!! And yes, this is yet another dessert which I order every time I see it in the menu but have never ever made it at home.

I made a tiny portion, 3 to be precise, 1 for me, 1 for him and 1 for me .. well, I was all alone on a Friday evening ..I deserve 2 .. don’t I ? ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜‰

Chana Chola

I was once asked by one of my colleague – ‘What is a typical Indian Cuisine?’. Well, that’s the fun part of Indian Cuisine, there is no such typical dish. Every single region has a variety of it’s own, different language, different culture, different dressing style, different custom and different food habits.

The language we speak at home is Bengali, which is from east of India. But I was born in Shillong and finished my college from there, which is in North East of India and the language they speak is called Khasi. I spent close to 10 years of my life in Bangalore which is in South of India and the common language that is spoken there is Kannada. I married someone who is from North of India and they speak Hindi, which is also the national language of India. How many languages can I speak ? Hindi, Bengali and English ๐Ÿ˜€

Talking of food now, Chole is mainly eaten in North on India with fried bread called Bhatura. It’s one of my favorite north Indian Vegetarian dish and I can eat it back to back for several days without getting bored. Now, making Bhature is little tough and you really need a very huge wok to prepare that. So, I substitute that with Poori which is kind of similar to Bhatura except that they are petite like me :P. I will share the recipe for Poori some other day. As for today let’s look at Chole.

Fish Fried with Crispy Plantain

For the past few days, it’s been warm, sunny and no rain ๐Ÿ™‚ I bet everybody in this part of the world is wondering where’s the winter gone ? Most of my friends love the winter, it’s cold, cozy and not sweaty. However, I can’t wait for spring and summer. I can have more lemonades, wear summer clothes, go out for walk and enjoy cocktails even on weekdays ๐Ÿ™‚

Fish is one of my favorite non-vegetarian dish. I like them fried, smoked, grilled, in curry, without curry, you got the message! ๐Ÿ˜€ So, why did I jump from warm weather to cocktail to fish ? Because, today I am sharing with you a spicy fish fry which goes perfectly with cocktails or even without cocktails! This dish is not entirely my idea. My very good friend Deepa shared her fish fry recipe with me and I gave my own twist to it. To the fish fry, I also added some fried crispy plantain and the combination was amazing!

Egg Bowl

If I have to select my favorite meal, I would definitely select Breakfast. It’s my all time favorite, some eggs.. some bread.. some fruits.. aaahh, perfect! I enjoy it more on weekends as you can take your time to enjoy every bite of the crispy bread or that yummy cheesy omelet. You can even sip your coffee more slowly, like you have all the time in the world.

Every weekend Arvind tries to help me in making breakfast. He always throws in some interesting ideas .. some are approved .. some are rejected .. and some (I would just have this blank look!) . I haven’t shared many breakfast recipes in my blog, that could be because we were too hungry to either take a picture or we were not sure how it would work out. ๐Ÿ™‚

Last weekend I made this breakfast, which we absolutely loved and thankfully, we had the patience to click some pics too. I used to make something similar in small sauce pan, but this time I used Ramekin. It’s quick, easy and you got to try it! I don’t even know what’s it called? I searched in the net, couldn’t find anything.. so I am calling it ‘Egg Bowl’
